We need your help!

1. Like and Share Our Fight on Facebook

2. Sign Our Petition

Mitch and Matthew Magnusson, farmers in the project's footprint, tell their story of trying to save their land from being taken and flooded. Read their story and sign the petition here.

3. Contact these agencies

These three agencies are spearheading the land grab. Please call or e-mail each of them, and you can simply say:

  • I support the Roseau County farmers.
  • Abandon the Roseau Lake Rehabilitation Project, which is misguided and threatens the farms and livelihoods of over 50 farmers.
  • Stop using my taxpayer dollars to fund this land grab, and instead figure out a different path forward that respects the property rights of these farmers and landowners.

Also, the Lessard-Sams Outdoor Heritage Council—a state agency charged with restoring, protecting, and enhancing Minnesota’s wetlands and wildlife, goals that will not be achieved by this project—has committed $2.67 million towards this land grab. Please e-mail them and say:

  • You have dedicated at least $2.67 million to the Roseau Lake Rehabilitation Project.
  • It is a misguided public works project with virtually no public benefit, that threatens the livelihoods and farms of over 50 farmers and landowners and approximately 6,000 acres of farmland.
  • A licensed hydrologist said the flood plan will only result in a 5% reduction in flooding, and not where Roseau is hit hardest.
  • The project will not create a habitat for wildlife. It will create a stagnant bog, typically only 6” high and sometimes up to 18”.
  • Please deny any future grant or funding extension requests for this project.
